President Trump landed in Washington, D.C. early Friday morning, taking questions from reporters as he returned from his Iowa victory lap of the megabill.
President Trump defended the merits of the bill, calling it " very popular" and claiming that the only poll on the matter was a “Democrat poll.” He claims that what makes the megabill popular is that it will bring the "biggest tax cuts in our country's history," and that the tax cuts alone are what makes the bill popular.
Trump also boasted about his border numbers in the month of June, but says he wants to "keep them going up."
“We just want to see if we can keep going up. We have had great numbers,” Trump said. “But we just want to keep them going up, right? That's all we can do.”
